Little Opera Company artists will present an immersive performance of Bizet’s “Carmen,” edited from the original three hour opera to a shorter evening of music, featuring the greatest hits from the show.
Carmen is set in southern Spain and tells the story Carmen, the fiery gypsy girl, and Don José, a naïve soldier who slowly turns to his darker impulses. Tenor Jonathan Kaufman (Opera Carolina, Toledo Opera,) stars as Don Jose, with Heather Witt (Festival of International Opera, Brazil) as Carmen. Baritone Jarvis Millar sings the bullfighter Escamillo and soprano Hannah Hoyt (Lyric Opera Studio Weimar, Germany) is Jose’s hometown love, Micaela. Local soprano and mezzo Alexis Croy and Jen Wiggins play the two gypsy smugglers Frasquita and Mercedes.
Each adult ticket includes a glass of wine from Treehouse Vineyards. Picnics encouraged! Children 12 and under may attend this event free of charge.
